From the Catechism of the Catholic
Church:
1601. "The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman
establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is
by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation
and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons
has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament."
1661.
"The sacrament of Matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the
Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the
love with which Christ has loved his Church; the grace of the sacrament
thus perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble
unity and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life."
1666.
"The Christian home is the place where children receive the first
proclamation of the faith. For this reason the family home is
rightly called 'the domestic church', a community of grace and prayer,
a school of human virtues and of Christian charity."
Those who are taking this Sacrament seriously and want to form a family according to the word of God, are asked to present themselves to the Parish Priest for the relevant information about all the papers that have to be filled and prepared to celebrate a valid Catholic marriage. We must keep in mind that marriages taking place out of their own parish are to have a "no objection" letter from their Parish Priest.
Since we have to prepare ourselves to this Sacrament and to our best to "celebrate" this Sacrament of love, we are requested to have some preparatory meetings to prepare this special event.
